Collection: wood fired
These pots are woodfired, which means they have been fired in a kiln that runs on wood and is "glazed" by the melted wood ash. Most of my other work is firing in an electric kiln - one that is powered by electricity (go figure). A woodfiring is a labor of love and community. We work in shifts all through the night, feeding the fire until it reaches 2300 degrees. Notice the outside surface of the pot - all the color and shine is the magic of wood ash and rock salt.
